Relationships in the office are forbidden. So no one is more surprised than Maggie when she pretends to be his fiancée to save him during a difficult situation. Not only has she put her job on the line, but the future of the company.
Billionaire Benjamin Gale III doesn't believe in love or romance, but the look on his mother's face when Maggie tells her that she's his fiancée is worth millions. Instead of firing her for her insubordination, he goes along with the ruse. In his arms -and in his bed- she'd be everything he could ever want…which is why he can't have her.
But if he doesn't let her go, they'll lose everything…
Review
Beauty and the Boss...
I've always loved the classic telling of Beauty and the Beast! The romance seemed so perfect and I loved the idea of falling in love based on character traits instead of physical characteristics. This story was pretty different from the usual Disney romance of pretty girl and the pretty guy getting together. So let's just say I read a lot of Beauty and the Beast twists like Beauty and the Boss.
First off, I love where the book starts off. I instantly got a chance to see the main characters and their usual interactions which was good because I could definitely see why one was the beauty and the other was the beast (or in this case, the "boss"). I liked where I thought the story line was going right off the bat and I could definitely see where the future drama might be.
Diane Alberts did a great job of really bringing out the characters personalities right from the start. I almost instantly knew what type of characters this book had and I could instantly connect to their problems and dilemmas! Also, Alberts did a great job of taking a twist on the usual office romance and making it way more thrilling to read. I was definitely never bored with this book and I loved every twist and turn!
Maggie Donovan is the kind of girl who doesn't go out of her way to get in trouble and garner the center of attention. Yet that's exactly what she does when she steps in and tells her boss's mother that they are engaged. I mean, this happened relatively early in the book and in no way did I expect the result of such actions to be so scandalous. I loved her fierce nature and how she was willing to protect her boss so much that she lied to his mother and risks her job for him. Just wow.
Billionaire Benjamin might seem like every girl's fantasy, but he's hiding some dark secrets, not to mention the drama attached to him in the form of his mother. It was really easy for me to get caught up in their romance and therefore, get frustrated when Benjamin and Maggie were dealt with challenge after challenge.
Overall this book was a great read and I absolutely adore the characters and story. I can't wait to read other books by this author and hopefully more about Maggie and Benjamin!
