5 "This is my new favorite series" Stars
Okay I recently announced that I'm into this whole new genre and this book/series is very representative of it! I am absolutely obsessed with this book/series because it has everything. There is action, a kick-ass female lead character, and love interests galore!
So this book is the introduction to this whole other world where shifters rule and are all looking for the ultimate power source... and so enters one human female thrown into the mix. The best thing about this book is the human female because she kicks a** and takes names. You may know this about me because of how often I repeat this in my reviews... but I love a female lead who isn't afraid to stand up for herself and fight for what she believes in.
The thing that I really liked about this book (besides the awesome Emma Chase) was the fact that the author creates such a world that is different than what I expect from a shifter romance. I'm used to the wolves, or lions or some other majestic animal that usually populates the typical shifter romance, but the author goes a step further and presents characters that differ from the norm. At first, I was a little wary of this because there is a reason that wolves and all those other popular shifters dominate. They dominate because they are sexy animals that a lot of people find interesting.
Yet this changes, at lest for me, in this series. OF course there is still the usual shifters that pop up later in the series but I mean seriously, there is a change in what I've come to expect from shifters. First off, these shifters are described as being humongous! Like seriously super big. Remember the Twilight movies where the wolves were super huge and dwarfed normal humans... yah it's kind of like that except the human form of these shifters are also pretty large.
Another change to the usual shifter descriptions is the type of shifters in the series. I wasn't so sure if I liked this at first because the chosen shifter was a little out of my realm of comfort. Like really out of my realm of comfort... I kind of want you to experience the surreal moment of "oh wow, I can't believe this is in the book" for yourself so I'm going to keep this ambiguous and leave the type of shifters in the novel a secret. ;)
But seriously guys, this book is the bomb-dot-com and I really want you all to go out an try this series out! So many things go down in this book it's unreal and I can't wait to read your thoughts and feelings as well as who you think Emma Chase should end up with!
So go out and get your own copy of this book so that you can tell me what you loved/hated (although I really don't think anyone will find something to hate).
p.s. and guess what peeps? this series (of five books so far) is completely free on Kindle Unlimited!!!
Especially when you’re heading into vet med. Emma Chase is nothing special – if anything, with a roomie who turns into a jaguar on a regular basis, she’s the sidekick, not the heroine. Her superpowers have more to do with acing her finals and overworking herself. Knowing her best friend’s secret makes it easier to justify her own inclination to keep people at a distance, but it doesn’t change her life.
Until others like him show up on her doorstep, convinced she’s the fated savior of their race, telling her she’s destined to command the magic of – well, Emma doesn’t quite catch that part, she’s too busy getting her ass the hell out of there.
What she does know? The Jaguar King is after her, his rivals want her dead, and she doesn’t have to believe in prophecy to believe they’ll stop at nothing to catch her.
Violence. Magic. Inappropriate humor. Step into a world of wonder and savagery in a gritty urban fantasy with an unlikely heroine, sizzling heroes, and complicated villains. The Jaguar King is a full-length read and the first in a series, and all the books have satisfying resolutions as well as a series-spanning story arc. Definitely no cliff-hangers – just bad-ass shifters with one goal: claim the prize. Claim the Caller of the Blood.
