Review: Give Me Yesterday by K. Webster & Elle Christensen

Wham. Pow. Clash.

This is what Give Me Yesterday started with. I know a book is good when during the prologue I am already overflowing with emotions and am seriously attached to the characters! Literally two pages in and I was balling my eyes out because the author just did such a great job of creating a story which has meaning and hits on some very powerful emotions. I'm going to admit to sometimes not reading the prologue because I've read prologues which give away later parts in the book or I feel as if they don't add anything to the book. Big Mistake Here. The prologue in this book is pretty critical because it gives reason to some of the actions and attitudes of the main characters. So yeah.

"I'll never accept the losses I have endured. NEVER."

Give My Yesterday is just so beautifully written that it was hard for me to read and remain indifferent or to not get caught up with the drama of the characters. I definitely would give warning to any readers who might get emotionally caught up in the books they read that this book packs a punch, and another punch, and another punch. I literally was so caught up in the characters and their lives that I could not put his book down to save my life. Forget homework!

The characters themselves were so vivid and had such an emotional depth that isn't always present in other romance novels. I was caught by surprise several times at the pure emotion and just life in general that the characters are going through. Victoria (Tori) is a divorce lawyer who has separated herself from any kind of emotion after experiencing tragedy. Yet the pushed-down emotions quickly bubble up when triggered and Tori cracked apart and really fell down a hole of depression and anger. After an incident at work, she is required to go to grief counseling sessions or "group" in order to start the healing process for her grief.

"She's fucking everything."

That's where bae comes into play. Chase Monroe is a sexy doctor of psychology who teaches psychology at a college and counsels a group of people who lost someone close to them (Then enters Tori). The connection between Chase and Tori immediately pops up but both are a little hesitant at first to really try and make a connection, at least until Chase decides that Tori will be an important part of his life. *insert sight*

I found the relationship of Chase and Tori to be complicated because they were both dealing with a past filled with tragedy and neither of them were at the point of acceptance. This really challenged their relationship on multiple levels as Tori worked to overcome any guilt she might be feeling and Chase had to work on overcoming any fear of abandonment. Both of them were a little broken yet together they kind of made up for those broken parts.

"You make me happy, Chase. After a decade of heartache and suffering, I'm beginning to feel alive and it's because of you."

>>ENTER PLOT TWIST!<<

As you might have guessed from the bolded text, Give Me Yesterday has a major plot twist that I definitely didn't see coming and I loved IT! Sometimes romance books can be repetitive but this novel definitely isn't stuck with that label. I mean, the kind of plot twist that his thrown in is so crazy that I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter and re-read the whole thing! (You'll understand when you read it). This twist really gave this book that extra push into the 4.5 Star range!

Overall this book was pretty darn amazing and it was really easy to get caught up in the characters and their relationship. I would definitely love to see other characters in this book get their own story and learn a little more about some of the characters who were really only mentioned by name.

"Give me yesterday and I'll give you forever."
