My Perfect Mistake...
Despite what the blurb suggests, this book doesn't just take place in Aspen. I liked how it branched out of this one location because it added substance to the novel and took it from a weekend romance to a novel that has meaning and something to fall in love with.
The way the characters were introduced was this perfect moment of kismet that was not only hilarious but later became a touching part of the novel. At first introduction, there was definitely a fire between Shay and Kolton even if it seemed a little on the hate side instead of the love side. Yet even with the strain of that first introduction, the chemistry between the two characters sparks and their relationship definitely starts on a more physical level ;).
Shay was a character that was both frustrating and then completely relatable. She had just gotten out of a controlling relationship where she felt like she lost herself, which is completely relatable yet, the frustration comes in when she let the fear of losing herself keep her away from Kolton. A lot of Shay's spunk came from her resolve to be true to herself and self-dependent, a characteristic that I admired throughout the novel. Yet I still wanted her to have that relationship with Kolton and at times, I just wanted to shake both her and Shay for being so freaking stubborn.
Kolton was at the same level of stubbornness within this novel as Shay. Instead, though, he also had someone else to think about and this made him more protective of both his heart and his life. I really liked Kolton because he was definitely grumpy at the start of this novel and I feel like this made him more lovable especially in the face of Shay's sass. Together I felt like they really had this great bond and I loved seeing life test this bond and the choices they made in response to their own insecurities.
Overall I really did like this novel and felt like it took a usual holiday romance and turned it into a novel with heart and feeling that takes the reader on a journey of life. I loved the characters and the light-heartedness that starts the book and the slow descent into drama and heartache. I definitely recommend this book to all of those who love a good romance.

What happens in Aspen is definitely not staying in Aspen . . .
A girls' trip to Aspen was exactly what Shay needed to forget about her toxic ex-boyfriend. She's got her girls, pristine slopes for skiing, and hot guys everywhere. Of course, her epic self-rediscovery goes completely to hell when a wild (and deliciously hot) skier knocks Shay on her ass . . . and war is declared.
Kolton doesn't know what it is about Shay that makes him lose it. Not just his cool---although she does have an unholy gift for that---but his restraint. When anger gives way to explosive chemistry, they're both shaken with the intensity of it. But somewhere between lust and hate, Kolton and Shay realize they could have something real . . . if they don't kill each other first.
