Release: The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken

The Bachelor Auction
The Bachelors of Arizona #1
by Rachel Van Dyken
On Sale: October 4, 2016
Price: $4.99 USD (eBook)

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

5 Fantastic Awe-Inspiring Amazing Stars

THIS BOOK...

I can't even describe the magnitude of this book's impact on me while reading. Colleen Hoover has such a way with writing about difficult topics and making them relatable and bringing attention to societal issues often ignored or forgotten in romance literature. In most books touching on sensitive subjects the focus is on theatrics and forcing the emotions of the readers to match those of the characters. Yet, Hoover manages to slowly entrap readers into the books to where the connection with her characters is completely natural and comes about honestly. BRAVO!

I literally loved this book even going into it with no idea what was going to happen. There's vagueness about the blurb that leaves a lot of opening for the book to grow past the expected and enter a whole new realm within the genre. I really enjoyed the fact that I couldn't guess where the book was headed and when I did... well let's just say I never guessed right!  Trust me when I say this isn't your typical picket fence romance novel.

An aspect of this book I really enjoyed was the fact that a lot of the character's history was established through various flashback's and journal entries. I thought this was an interesting characteristic of the book as you hear the character's history from a younger tone of voice which speaks of Lily's struggles throughout her life and her continuing reflection on the past.

Speaking of Lily...

She is one of my most favorite main characters. There is an honesty and strength in her character that really spoke to me throughout the book even when she was lying to herself. I enjoyed Lily as a character because she wasn't the perfect person who was always tough and ready for a battle. Instead she made mistakes, let her fears take over parts of her life, and was still strong enough to recognize the weak spots in her personality and strive to overcome them even when she had to break her own heart in order to do so. Basically, Lily is a role model for women everywhere who are put in challenging situations and have to fight their own emotions and thoughts in order to get out alive.

Those other characters...

This was the most complicated book because of the other characters besides Lily in this novel. They aren't presented as "bad" or "good" from the beginning of the novel. Instead they are introduced as the most ordinary people who you find yourself rooting for until suddenly their personalities are brought to light... just like in real life (who'd of thunk?). For this reason I found it completely easy to trust the wrong people in this novel and this made Lily's situation all the more relatable. Good and bad are such relative labels often given to fictional characters that sometimes the intricacies of life are left forgotten. Yet this book reminds of just how complicated life actually is and why no one person is truly the definition of evil. This balance of characters is pretty unique for me, and just another reason why Colleen Hoover is such an amazing author.

This is a definite MUST READ! For all CoHorts, romance lovers, and even romance-haters... This is a book that grips you by the throat and really takes a whole new perspective (and a realistic one to boot) on relationships and the different kinds present in today's society.

LOVED IT!

“I had to prove that what he believed wasn't true. Prove that he was the total of everything he had done and not the dark things he was ashamed of, and I would do so because I loved him and accepted him for who he was, for all his faults. That was what love meant. Love fostered courage.”
