Tour: And Then Forever ~ Shirley Jump

Welcome to Fortune’s Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart.

Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can’t afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack on Fortune’s Island and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down.

Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. As the privileged son of a wealthy family, Kincaid was too young to stand up to his overbearing father when he and Darcy were together. Now, he’s back on the island—free of the family shackles—and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance.

But, Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid—a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But, she can’t resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn’t take long before both of them realize that anything can happen at The Love Shack on a hot summer night.

Review

And Then Forever...

I do have to say that I wasn't sure if I would like this book going into it. It seemed a little chliche at first, but Shirley Jump did create a fabulous book. One thing that really stood out from other authors is her writing. Jump did a great job of dragging me into the story and making me feel like I was right there with the characters. (Also I really like that her last name is Jump).

Darcy was such and interesting character. I could never quite tell how old she actually was because sometimes it felt like she was in her forties to fifties becuase she had all the weight of the world on her shoulders kind of vibe, while other times I felt like she was ninteen as she danced the night away to close out her shift at the Love Shack. (Which by the way, is an awesome name for a beach restaurant. I definitely recommend it to those out there looking to start a restaurant on the beach.) Because of this age confusion, it was a little hard to relate to her becuase I couldn't quite pin down her personality as it changed depending on if she was at work or at home.

I do have to input a little criticizm here as it was really easy to see where the book was going. I do wish the author made it some kind of twist instead of the usual "secret". I was able to guess what the "secret" was almost right away and I wasn't sure if this was on purpose or not. Also, I felt like it was a little cliche just how perfect that little "secret" was. I felt like it would have been more interesting if everything didn't fall perfectly in line.

Kincaid Foster. I do have to say that he was a little different then the usual. I felt like he was a little more life-like, weaker than the heroes that usually come with these romance books. He felt more human because he made a lot of mistakes. Mistakes that irritated me while reading but ones I also liked when thinking back to the book.

Overall this book was really good! I liked the characters and the story line was pretty well thought out and I loved some of the surprises that came out.
