The Matchmaker's Replacement by Rachel Van Dyken (Wingman Inc. #2)

5 Perfectly Matched Stars

So first off, you should know that I fell in love with this series when I read the first book: The Matchmaker's Playbook. This series has definitely become one of my favorites because of how well the characters play off each other and create an entertaining environment.

Going off the first book, let's just say the expectations were set pretty high after following Ian and Blake's relationship. So imagine my surprise when I finish The Matchmaker's Replacement and am literally left speechless, which is ironically when I started to write this review.

There were glimpses of Gabby and Lex's battle of wills within the first novel that usually left explosions in their wake. I loved the banter between the two and the only thing that got me over the first book ending was the fact that the second book was about two feisty characters and therefore would probably be a great read! And let's just say that The Matchmaker's Replacement far exceeded expectations.

The thing about Lex and Gabby was that they are like an explosion that just keeps going. I mean everytime they are even in the same room sparks fly and tempers get hot. I loved the chemistry between the characters and how they used their tempers to hide how they really felt. Yet even when they are yelling at each other and talking crap, you can see just how much they care.

In this book, there are elements of both hilarity and sweetness that blended together perfectly to create not only a couple you'll root for throughout the novel but also laugh at when there encounters turn fiery.  This balance really makes this a reading experience, especially with the new features in this book (the kindle version) that allow the reader to connect with the characters and get more involved within the novel.

Overall this was a really great book and I loved EVERYTHING about it! I really can't wait to see where the series is headed next and what characters will be brought into this series.

Wingman rule number two: never reveal how much you want them.
Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.

But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away.

Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.
