Better When He’s Bold ~ Jay Crownover

Better When He's Bold

Some men are just better when they're bold.

Welcome to the Point...

In a dark and broken kingdom, a ruler has to be fearless to control the streets and the ruthless people who run them.

Race Hartman is just bold enough, just smart enough, and just lost enough to wear the crown. Places like the Point will always have bad things and bad people, but the man in control of all that badness can minimize the devastation. Race has a plan, but can he prevent total annihilation without destroying himself?

Brysen Carter has always seen her best friend's brother for what he is--too pretty, too smooth, and way too dangerous to touch. Basking in Race's golden glow is very tempting, but Brysen knows she'd eventually get burned.

When she starts receiving threatening texts and someone tries to take her out in parking lot, the only person interested in keeping her safe is the one man she can't allow herself to have.

Sometimes being bold is the only way to stay alive. But can she let Race save her life . . . if it means losing herself to him?

Review

Better When He’s Bold…

I don’t know how, but Jay Crownover has created another brilliant book, but she has far succeeded expectations. (At least for me, that is.)

I definitely wasn’t for sure if this book would be able to compete with any of the other books in Jay’s series. I mean Better When He’s Bad was pretty freakin’ amazing, and I didn’t totally like Race as a character in that book. He seemed too out of his element and kind of a side character trying to pull all the strings without truly succeeding.

But then I opened the book.

And I fell in love.

Brysen is a character that kind of reminded me of Shay in the Marked Men Series. She had this outer shell that put off this unattainable, socialite image that didn’t want to dirty her hands with the Point. At first glance, she was superficial and had never experienced any sort of hardship. Then I got to see under the picture perfect image. Brysen was actually the girl that had too much on her shoulders and was struggling to not only keep her family together, but also her own head afloat. Add in a little sister to try and protect and a seemingly dangerous stalker obsessed with her, Brysen definitely isn’t the image she presents to the world, or to Race.

Speaking of Race, *swoon*. He portrays the “bad guy”, but only because he tries to rule the Point. There is such a reversal of roles in this series as those you expect to be “bad” are really the ones trying to save others (for the most part, some people are just s.o.l.). Then you have the people from the other side of the tracks, the supposedly “good” ones, or in other words, the ones that are rich enough to hide all their secrets behind money (a.k.a. Race’s father… It’s almost like a Luke Skywalker kind of thing with Darth Vader). Now in the first book, Race wasn’t my favorite person. He seemed like he was trying to control people behind the scenes and be this “evil mastermind”. Yet in this book, I got to see a side of Race that I didn’t expect and kind of grew to love.

To make it short: Together they were PERF!

So many things happened in this book that I really didn’t expect… This book surprised me at every turn and this is one of the few reasons this book deserved all FIVE stars.

This book is too amazing to pass up, so go and check it out asap!

side note: I would definitely read this series in order Smile

About the Author

I'm supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I'm an natural redhead even though I haven't seen my real hair color in years, I'm a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I've been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I'm interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
Thanks for taking the time to check my stuff out....
