This book....
was so freakin' amazing that I really couldn't put it down and at the same time just have to share even as I am currently reading it! Yah, that's how good it is.
So i've been in a kind of book hangover lately and nothing has sounded good; not new books, not go-to books, and not even favorite authors' books. So obviously I might have been going a little insane lately and have been a little grumpy... maybe.
Yet this book was the CURE!
Within the first few lines I was hooked!! Actually, with first sight of the cover I was hooked! I mean, what's not to love about a hot guy cuddling an adorable little baby?! This book is definitely dangerous to a girl's ovaries with all of this manly baby cuddling and sparky relationship moments... all leading to the perfect cure to my book hangover.
So I have to say that the book threw me off a little in the beginning ( in the best way), where the prologue was from the POV of Melissa who has a one-night stand with Ridge (the hot guy in the banner above^) yet things happen where the relationship (?) doesn't work out the way one would think and yet suddenly Ridge has a baby boy he's the father of and things happen...
(sorry for being so vague but I'm trying my best not to give away the plot ;) )
The thing I love about this book (besides the hot cover model) was the fact that there was definitely different emotions at work but they were't overwhelming devastation. A lot of books sometimes can go overboard with the emotions but this book had the perfect balance of drama and support that makes it a perfect "book-hangover-cure-blend".
**UPDATE**
So I finished the book...
And it was EVERYTHING I wanted and MORE!!!!
So the thing about this book is that there is no "other woman" or "other man", instead this book is about a budding relationship and the challenges that come with a relationship. I loved that there was no extra drama to make the story interesting but instead depended on the characters and story itself to bring the big guns (which were definitely brought btw).
The best part of this book was definitely the two main characters: Ridge & Kendall.
The things about Kendall was she exuded confidence and smarts throughout the novel and was never threatened by petty drama. Instead she was definitely in control of who she was and wasn't scared to admit her feelings to Ridge. I loved this in her character because I really see a difference between Kendall and other female leads in other very popular books.
Note to all authors: confidence is sexy so keep on the strong female leads!
Ridge on the other hand was a complete hunk. I loved how the author presented this strong male character in contrast to the cute little baby of his. I especially loved the times when Ridge was described shirtless with the little baby cuddled on his chest ;). Not only are strong female leads attractive but male leads who aren't complete a-holes. At no point in the novel is Ridge ever presented as anything other than a guy who goes above and beyond for anyone (including random strangers, friends, and his son).
Overall this book was a complete, I mean COMPLETE, success for me! I loved every character and felt a connection with them from the very first line. I literally loved this book and even though I read it to cure me of a book hangover, I'm pretty sure this book gave me another one. I'm definitely hoping to see more about this group of friends and their adventures (with sneak peaks at Ridge, Kennedy and Knox!).
