The Perfect Combination: French Toast + A Great Book

The perfect start to any day, and especially a Monday, is the combination of a new read and an amazing breakfast meal.

Personally, I love the combination of French Toast and Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills!

I'm always looking for simple breakfast recipes to go along with a good read and today, French Toast was the perfect five-minute fix that not only became a savory meal but also went perfectly with todays chosen read.

So here's the recipe that I made from McCormick:

Delicious French Toast

5 minutes prep | 5 minutes cooking

Ingredients:

1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (McCormick)
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (McCormick)
1/4 cup of milk (whole milk)
2 slices of bread

1. Beat egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
2. Pour in milk while continuously stirring.
3. Dip bread in the mixture, coating both sides.
4. Cook bread slices in a slightly greased frying pan on medium heat until slightly brown on both sides.

**so the original recipe (which you can find HERE) says you can make four pieces of french toast with the recipe but the kind of break I used (Oroweat Oatnut) is a little bigger than the average bread piece so I actually had to make two batches for four pieces.

**also I would recommend not using a bread with wholegrain because I didn't really like biting into oat nuts and I didn't completely like the crust so I ended up eating just the middle!

And Ta-Da!!

p.s. this was my first attempt at making french toast! So the skill level needed is pretty basic ;)

I'd love to see your personal French Toast recipes or other ingredients you might like to include with your french toast besides syrup!
