Skylar Mitchell didn’t believe in any of them.
She never wanted a real boyfriend. She never wanted her own kid.
When she watched her sister get destroyed by the man she loved, she vowed it wouldn’t happen to her.
Don’t fall in love.
Don’t become attached.
Don’t let yourself feel.
Easy, right?
Griffin and Erin Pearce had the perfect life. With the perfect house. And the perfect jobs.
What they didn’t have was the perfect baby.
Skylar never counted on meeting Erin.
She never imagined finding this wonderful best friend who would change the way she looked at the world.
And she certainly never dreamed of falling in love with her best friend’s husband.
Especially while being their surrogate.
She also never counted on fate ripping everything away from her.
A story about unconditional love, heartbreaking loss, and undying friendship.
This is a standalone novel that is the second in a series following three sisters.

Review
"Do you believe in fate?"
Because I do...
White Lilies is one of those novels that grab you with an insane idea and take you for a beautiful ride of self-awareness and tears. Starting this book, I wasn't actually sure what this book entailed and the exact journey of the characters. I got the basics from the book's summary but I was so surprised by how it all came together to create this journey of discovery and pain and happiness. I loved how the author created this story so different from what you would expect, and then destroys everything you thought you knew and revealed the true story within this novel.
The author did a great job of drawing me in into a story which really took me on an emotional journey with the characters. As I started to understand the characters within the novel and the reason behind their actions (especially Skylar's), I was drawn more into their lives and into the challenges they face, which also deepened my emotional ties with the book. You will become emotionally invested in this book and the characters, there is no way not to be hooked into such a story like this one especially when the author does such a great job of creating characters with substance and, therefore, are relatable to every type of reader.
The character of Skylar Mitchell is one that was hard to like at the beginning of White Lilies. She was a party girl who doesn't have a care in the world except sex and alcohol and running her family's business. This is the initial facet of Skylar I was introduced to and it made me a little weary of where this book was going and how this interpretation would change. Starting off any book with what one might consider a "weak" lead character is very risky yet it definitely pays off in this novel. I ended up connecting with Skylar, faults and all, as she works to become someone different from the girl first introduced and I think this aspect of the book is what really brings in the emotional investment of readers.
Without giving away any spoilers, I knew who I wanted Skylar to end up with, but I wasn't sure how this matchup would happen because of the extenuating circumstances involved. I will say that this book creates the perfect heartbreaking romance that will cause readers everywhere to want to throw their copy of White Lilies across the room and hold onto it and cry simultaneously.
But seriously, this book is freaking amazing and since recently purchasing it, I have already read and re-read this novel and then loaned it to several family members for them to get the full experience of this book. White Lilies is worth every penny of its purchase and I definitely recommend it to readers everywhere!
