Flashback Friday: Torn ~ K.A. Robinson

  • Series: Torn (Book 1)
  • Paperback: 272 pages
  • Publisher: Atria Books; Original edition (September 3, 2013)

Chloe hasn't had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.

On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.

Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.

Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?

Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

Review

Torn was  about Chloe, a girl who has a troubled past but also has the love of her friends  to help her get past it. Then she meets Drake who is a major player. Caught  between two guys, her best friend and  Drake, she makes a decision that may have  horrid consequences. Not only is she having trouble between these two, but  someone from her past decides to make a visit that could destroy  Chloe.

I loved  this book! I thought that the characters were great and that they had a lot of  depth. Chloe was a very complicated character and very dynamic. She might not  always make the right decisions but she owns up to her mistakes which I loved  about her. I thought that the author did a good job with conveying her  background and adding insight about her life when she was a child. Drake was  another character of interest in this story that added drama and emotions. He  made the story come alive and any girl can’t help but fall in love with him as  the story progresses.

Not only did the main character really bring the story  together but so did the minor characters.  They complimented the story so well and really brought it together. The reader  could really feel their pain and happiness in the emotional arts of the  story.

The plot  was very detailed and interesting. I loved the storyline and how everything was  put together. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series because of how  the author foreshadowed it throughout this book. I enjoyed reading this story  and can’t wait for the drama of the next in Twisted.
