As a last minute, cheap alternative to a senior trip, Jaymee Gregory and her best friend plan a weekend trip to Point Peak Resort and Lodge. The weekend starts as planned. A relaxing time at a beautiful resort.
Shortly after their arrival, Jaymee encounters Jake Walker, a local who has an obvious attraction to her. Despite her constant reminder to herself that she has a boyfriend, Jaymee can’t deny the attraction she feels for Jake as well. In the short time she spends with Jake, Jaymee realizes things about herself that she had never noticed before. The more she gets to know him, the more she gets to know herself.
After a terrible lapse in judgement, Jaymee does something that she instantly regrets. She leaves Point Peak quickly and un-expectantly; leaving behind a confused Jake who is left with nothing but her first name and a handful of memories.
That weekend is the beginning of a series of back-to-back events that change the course of Jaymee’s life forever. After three years, Jaymee and Jake meet again. Just the sight of Jake brings back a flood of emotions that Jaymee doesn’t want to relive.
Will Jaymee be able to separate her memories of Jake from the memories of everything that happened around the time she met him? Will she be able to thank him for helping her discover her true self?

Discovering Jaymee...
I was really impressed with the plot of this book. The book starts off in the present but then by the next chapter the book is based mostly in a flashback. I thought this was pretty unique and I really loved how there was a lot of detail and thought put into the flashback. It seems sometimes in books the flashback really adds nothing to the book, but in this case everything revolved around the flashback.
In terms of character development, this novel really described a coming of age experience. The story line revolved around Jaymee and her figuring out who she is and what she wants out of life. When she goes to a resort with her best friend, she is introduced to Jake, a guy who pushes her to speak her mind and do what she wants. Used to everyone just deciding what she wants and what she should say, hanging out with Jake is an eye opening experience.
Jaymee as a character was pretty great. She described herself as someone just filling a space and I think that a lot of people who read this book are going to be able to connect to her because of this. She's a girl who is confused about her purpose and her importance and she doesn't really realize all she has to offer to the world until she starts doing what she wants to do. It was really a growing process for her throughout the book as she goes from being a floor mat to someone who knows what she wants and has the strength to go after her goals.
Jake was a pretty interesting character because I felt like he wasn't a main character, but instead the most important supporting character. This book was less about the romance and more about Jaymee's self-discovery. I really liked how the author didn't create a romance drama that overtook the moral of the story, but instead it nicely complimented the characters and their struggles.
Annette and Colin are really important characters because they are the antagonists in a way. It's not that they purposely go out of their way to harm Jaymee, but instead they are kind of her safety net that doesn't want to let go. Several times in the book they would talk over Jaymee as if she wasn't able to make her own decisions and I felt like this was one of the main reasons Jaymee didn't know who she was. She relied to heavily on friends who thought about themselves first, and her second.
Overall I felt like this book was pretty good. It was definitely a good read that will not take long but does engage one's imagination and connects emotionally to the reader. I will definitely be looking forward to the next books in the series; Loving Annette and Forgiving Colin. I love series that have different books about different characters and I know this series is going to be really interesting!
