Gable Powers had all the makings of everything my father had ever warned me about: a reputation that was anything but stellar, a dirty mouth that had me shivering at the things he uttered in my ear, and a body (oh, God, that body) that was covered in tattoos, all of which added up to a solid ten-point-oh on the bad-boy scale.
The first time I met him, I instantly loathed him.
The second time was even worse.
He was a jerk. He was an ass.
He had secrets.
He was nothing I thought I ever wanted.
So why couldn’t I resist him?
New adult. Not recommended for readers under 17.

I actually thought this book was pretty good. There were some parts where it got a little confusing and a little immature, but overall this book was a solid four.
The characters were pretty good. Gable was the stereotypical jerk that the girl fell in love with because he is just so hot and actually has a sweet side. Now, I’m not saying this is a bad thing. I just want you to know what kind of book this is. Actually the author managed to play this off pretty nicely and in a unique way (hoo-rah). For me, it took a little while to get used to Gable’s back and forth mannerism. At one moment being a mega jerk, and then at another being super sweet. A little bit of whip lash on these parts I will admit.
Then again, it’s nice to see the characters not instantaneously falling in love. There is a little bit of struggle in this book and it made the book all the more interesting.
Now to the awkward parts. . Okay, there was this really awkward part like half way to through the book where I was like “WTF is going on????”. It just didn’t make sense to me and I felt like that one part of the book had way more potential then it was presented with. IDK, it was one of those moments in the book where you cringe in embarrassment for the character and then stair at the book in disbelief for five minutes trying to process what happened.
But, besides that one part, the book was pretty decent. The characters were easy to sympathize with and the plot of the book as a whole was pretty good. I thought the emails were an interesting idea, although at some parts there was a little immaturity (but it was easy enough to get past).

Hi 9543254!
It’s nice meeting you!
Um, to tell you a few things about myself, I’m a sophomore and female. I’m not from Washington State.
I’ve got two older brothers, and was raised by my dad. My mom died of cancer when I was three, so I was raised by three guys so I guess I’m kind of a tomboy. I love chicken tacos, Alter Bridge is my favorite band (Mark Tremonti is THE best guitarist ever) and I have a huge crush on Alex Trebek. Weird, I know.
I hope your week has gone well so far. How are your classes going? Great, I hope! Mine are going fine. I know we’re not supposed to tell each other anything too personal, but I have to tell you, I’m already loving my French class, well, except for when the professor called on us to see how much we knew and I accidentally asked if the chicken was in my size. I was going for sweater, but as you see, I screwed that up.
Anyway, I hope this assignment is fun. I’ve never had a pen pal before, but if it gets me an A in psych, then I’m in lol
Talk to you later! : )

My pen pal answered that night.

Yo 9565876—
I’m a dude from the Seattle area. I’ve got 3 brothers. Jimi Hendrix, enough said. Not much of an Alter Bridge fan, although I haven’t really listened to them. Tremonti was good when he was with Creed, though. Chicken tacos are cool. You’re into older game show hosts—nice. My classes are good.
What do you look like?
