How to Organize Your Bookcase(s)!

Let's be honest, the bookcase is a very essential part of your home and is the basis by which all other book lovers judge you. So if your bookcase isn't on fleek, then you'll be getting flack from all of your book-loving besties.

So here's how to make that drab bookcase into a show-stopper:

1. First, figure out how you want to organize.

Organizing your bookcase is a very important step because it sets up for the whole decorating process. I myself decided to organize my selfs based on genre and favorites. Basically, I pulled all of my books and set them up in stacks based on genre and then figured out my favorite genres (or most re-read genres) and then stacked them back into the bookcases based on this.

I've seen people also organize by color, size, author, or title. It really depends on what you like or what is most easy for you to locate that one book you want to read randomly!

p.s. if you decide to organize by color I definitely want to see some pictures!!

2. Add some interest to your shelves!

I like to add some interest to my shelves by turning the books a different way on every shelf, this is especially useful for series that are similar in sizes. This helps a lot of you need a little extra space and you have a large stack of small books that are the same size and actually take up less space when horizontal vs. vertical.

3. Finally, PERSONALIZE

Personalizing your bookcase is what makes it uniquely yours and what will set you apart from all of those book-loving friends of yours. Personalizing can come in many different formats from picture frames to little knick-knacks, basically anything that represents who you are and what you like. Adding this touch will make your bookcases into a statement piece everyone will love (even those friends of yours who don't appreciate the written word as much as you ;))
