Armed with two years' worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.
Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.
Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.
And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch.

Review
“I want you to look at me the way you used to. I want you to think that I’m good. I want you to still want me.”
Chasing River is a fabulous book that will have you questioning your own morals and decisions. So many parts of this book were so perfect and extraordinarily written that it was hard to put it down! So far, Chasing River is one of my favorite books in this series.
“And then I want to come back here, light all these candles...' He kisses me again. '...and tell you a story about a lowly Irish peasant bartender who falls in love with a beautiful American princess.”
This book seemed really well thought out. Everything was flawlessly in place to show either some inner thoughts of the characters or to match up with the plot. The writing style itself made everything seem so personal and I was able to really connect with the situation and characters. When first reading the description of the book, I was a little hesitant because this book didn't sound like the usual kind when compared to other books in the series. So going into this I was a little out of my comfort zone, but this book ended up being amazing.
“1. Have a torrid affair with a foreigner. Country: TBD.”
The meeting of River and Amber was very interesting. The book is set in Ireland, a place where the people are divided (for the most part) into two very different mind sets. It's the IRA against those who want to connect with England. In this book, River is caught up with the IRA through his older brother who is an active member. River himself dedicates his life to his family's bar and wants no dealings with the IRA. Unfortunately when it comes to family, it seems one has to get involved. And that's the main reason why River and Amber met. Which is ironic that they met while River was trying to protect his brother because it cause so much pain and anger later on.
“The moment they capture me, the moment I see that face, I know it's her.”
I'll admit to doubting River and Amber's when reading about it. I mean, River saves Amber's life... of course she becomes infatuated with him. I really felt she liked him because he saved her and it created this bond of trust, not love. Their romance seemed more idealistic than anything else, he saved her and then fell for her beauty. She fell for his eyes and his knight like behavior. Amber is this totally different girl, or "bird", than others he has "gone out with". Instead of brash and forward, she is shy and delicate in both personality and manner. Yet that delicacy doesn't undermine her strength of character, thankfully ;). But the more they hung out with each other and learned about each other, the stronger their relationship seemed.
“The lightest caress of his breath against my neck sends shivers through my body.”
One section of the book I really loved was the whole Ivy & Amber hash out. Not the best of friends in high school (Ivy hated her guts), when these two get together in Ireland they really let it all out. It was great because it really showed Amber's true colors. She was the popular girl who really didn't like being popular but she dealt with it because it was in her comfort zone. Also she was the town's "good-girl" because her father was the Sheriff and her brother was delinquent enough. This rehashing helped me the reader learn more about Amber and also the guys she usually goes for... aka not River. This little section of the book gave the history and the personality of one of the major characters of this book; Amber.
“That's the difference between the birds I'm used to and a girl like Amber”
Overall, this book was so amazing! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great romance read or is familiar with other books by K.A. Tucker. It is recommended to read the series in order or else there might be a few spoilers but for the most part this book is pretty independent from the others. But yeah... A great read!
“His gentleman's hesitation in the car earlier is gone, replaced with a confidence that provokes.”
