Review
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. It has a pretty unique story-line that kind of grabbed my attention right away. It focuses on this seemingly normal girl who has this extraordinary gift of healing. I think it was this healing gift that first turned me onto this book. I feel like the characters that have this healing power follow a general outline that I really like to read about, and The Healer did not disappoint. Throughout the book C.J. Anaya presented a unique character and a unique situation rather well.
Hope was a pretty interesting character. At time she was kind of generic but it was mostly because of the whole "I want this guy but I'm not willing to go after him" situation. One thing that really caught my eye was her interactions with patients at the hospital. I felt like these were some of the best parts of the book because they showed Hope's true character and even her struggle with her gift. Now comes in her two mysterious young "protectors".
I have to say that I found their interactions pretty amusing. Hop struggled against her own attraction to one of these protectors yet is supposed to like the other own just a little bit more. I found that their relationships between the three were really interesting and I wished the book was a little longer so that they would develop more fully.
While the book was really good, I do wish the book was a little longer. I felt like this book was more of a introduction to the major plot problem than the first book in the series. Yet even with this critique, this book definitely had a lot going on with it and I really liked what I read.
